Late-night host Stephen Colbert drew a comparison between Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), former President Donald Trump, and a venereal disease on Wednesday night.

On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he noted that “DeSantis beats the former president 52% to 38%” in a new hypothetical 2024 poll of Republicans. “Yay? Also, maybe boo? It’s hard to know who to root for here,” he said.

“It’s like a poll between gonorrhea and a slightly more racist gonorrhea,” Colbert quipped.

“Apologies to gonorrhea,” he added.

“This is all because, what with the insurrections and the Hitler dinners, only the most conservative voters are still backing the ex-president. While DeSantis is trouncing him with voters who consider themselves only ‘somewhat conservative,'” he explained.

According to Colbert, “to take full command of the GOP, all DeSantis has to do is reel in the coveted conservative demographic of ‘angry conspiracy QAnon all-meat diet tan-your-testicle boys.’ And his opening offer to all of them is calling for a grand jury investigation of COVID vaccines.”

He then slammed DeSantis for news of the vaccine investigation, claiming, “Y’all killed your own voters!”

The host then played several clips of the Florida governor touting the COVID-19 vaccines, telling the audience, “That’s evidence right there that it causes genetic side effects. Because this guy used to promote the vaccine, but once he got it, he turned into a huge d*** bag.”

DeSantis’s office did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.

This week, the governor announced he is petitioning the Supreme Court of Florida to convene a statewide grand jury in order “to investigate crimes and wrongdoing committed against Floridians related to the COVID-19 vaccine.”
