House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) scoffed at a question about whether she will serve out her full term in the next Congress following her decision to step down from leadership next year.

“Don’t bother me with a question like that,” she told reporters at a press conference on Thursday. “Those kind of questions are such a waste of my time.”

Speculation has emerged over whether her daughter Christine will run for the San Francisco district if Pelosi opts to step down from her seat. Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener is also rumored to be considering a bid when Pelosi leaves Congress.

Pelosi, who made history as the first female speaker in 2007, noted that the press conference may be the final one before she transitions to being a rank-and-file member, adding that the part of her legacy she is most proud of is the passage of the Affordable Care Act.

Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), both of whom have served in leadership for nearly two decades, announced last month that they would remain in Congress but leave their positions as the top and No. 2 Democrats in the House, with the lawmakers saying they felt it was time for a generational change.

Her official speaker portrait was unveiled on Wednesday, with former Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) giving an emotional speech praising her tenure.

“Game recognizes game, and the fact of the matter is no other speaker of the House in the modern era, Republican or Democrat, has wielded the gavel with such authority or with such consistent results,” the Ohio Republican said at the unveiling ceremony.
