WATCH LIVE: House Judiciary Committee holds hearing on violent crime in Washington

House Judiciary Committee hearing

The House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance is holding a hearing on violent crime in Washington, D.C.

The hearing will feature two victims of violent crime in the city and two experts. Gaynor Jablonski, a business owner who was attacked in front of his 4-year-old son; Mitchell Sobolevsky, a victim of robbery; Charles Stimson, a crime control, national security, homeland security, and drug policy expert at the Heritage Foundation; and Greg Pemberton, Metropolitan Police Department detective and chairman of the D.C. Police Union, will all be testifying.

Republicans have increasingly focused on violent crime since taking a House majority, often arguing that it can be blamed on Democratic policies.
