Presidential hopeful Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said the recent Hamas terrorist attacks and war in Israel are “personal” for the people of Florida.
“This is personal for us here in Florida,” DeSantis told CNN Wednesday. “We have the second largest Israeli-Amercan population in the country. We’ve been a magnet, since I was governor, for Orthodox Jews.”

DeSantis’s remarks come a day after his proposal to put in place in Florida the “strongest Iran sanctions that any state has enacted.”
The proposed legislation will expand the ban on Florida’s investment in businesses in Iran to include all major sectors, including the financial, construction, manufacturing, textile, mining, and port fields, according to DeSantis.
“Money going into that regime, unfortunately, is turned around and used to facilitate terrorism,” the governor and Iraq War veteran said.

“So, the emotions are very raw,” he said.
