The House of Representatives is debating on the floor as the government is set to shutdown on Oct. 1 if a stopgap bill is not passed.
A Republican-led stopgap bill was shot down on Friday and with less than a day until funding for the federal government expires, it appears likely a government shutdown will occur.

A continuing resolution proposed by a bipartisan group of Senators appears to have no chance in the House, after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on Friday that the bill had “no path forward and is dead on arrival.” A government shutdown would mean hundreds of thousands of federal workers being furloughed or forced to work with delayed pay.
