Kennett Consolidated School District closed schools on Tuesday and extended the closure into Wednesday, and Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, was also closed on Wednesday due to the manhunt.

Pennsylvania State Police released images on Tuesday of Cavalcante on a trail camera in Longwood Gardens on Monday night. Officials at Longwood Gardens said the footage was discovered at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

“Late Monday night, images of the escaped convict were captured on trail cameras on Longwood property. The images were shared with PA State Police immediately after the footage was viewed at around 3:30 am on Tuesday, September 5. PA State Police are actively searching on the property. We will continue to work with authorities and law enforcement as the search continues,” Longwood Gardens said in a statement.

The sighting of Cavalcante at the botanical gardens caused officials to expand the 2-mile search area for the escaped inmate on Tuesday.
