‘A hate crime on our ears’: Hillary Clinton sings ‘I Will Survive’ in Carpool Karaoke

Apple TV+ series Carpool Karaoke aired its 10th episode of Season 5, unleashing Hillary Clinton’s vocal talents on the world.
The episode begins with the former first lady and her daughter Chelsea Clinton sitting in a car in Yonkers, New York.
“I am so excited about this! I have loved this show for years, so let’s get going,” Hillary Clinton cheerfully said as she turned on the car.

Her daughter stops her and asks, “I’m also excited, but when was the last time you drove a car?”
“Uh, 1996?” the former senator smiled.
As Chelsea Clinton takes the wheel, her mother reminds her about her singing abilities.
“Chelsea, I am not the best singer, which you [have] firsthand experience in understanding. I am kind of nervous, frankly. I think I need some help, so I think I’m going to call a friend,” the former secretary of state said as she grabbed her cellphone.
The show cuts to comedian Amber Ruffin joining the Clintons in the car.
“Are you ready?” Ruffin asked.
The actress performed vocal exercises with Hillary Clinton and her daughter, repeating “me me me,” “you you you,” and “we we we.”
The former diplomat joked to the entertainer that she was “going to have to carry a lot of this, my dear.”
The Clinton women and Ruffin begin the karaoke song list by singing “Roar” by Katy Perry, which was the former presidential candidate’s 2016 campaign theme song.
“You know what’s great about singing these songs?” Ruffin asked. “Us singing these songs is us celebrating the ‘gutsy’ women in music.”
Ruffin’s remarks cross-promoted another Apple TV+ eight-episode docuseries, Gutsy, hosted by the Clinton women, based on their New York Times bestselling book, The Book of Gutsy Women.
“It’s gutsy to be a woman anywhere,” the younger Clinton chimed in.
The women followed up by singing “Respect” by Aretha Franklin.
“The money part I’d forgotten. I always remembered the ‘respect’ part, and I guess what she’s basically telling us is, do whatever it takes to get rid of him,” Hillary Clinton said, referencing Franklin’s lyrics.
The women went on to gush about how “glamorous” Franklin’s fashion choices were as a performer.
After some banter in the car, the vehicle then stopped for singer Vanessa Williams to join the carpool.
“She’s my neighbor,” Clinton said of Williams.
The four women performed “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor, a viral clip that Apple TV+ used to promote the new episodes this week.
The reviews of this carpool performance poured in on social media.
“Good luck surviving Hillary Clinton’s ensemble carpool karaoke rendition of ‘I Will Survive,’” Twitchy wrote.
“A hate crime on our ears,” reviewed a Twitter user.
