Marylands former Republican governor Larry Hogan is holding space for a possible 2024 presidential run — but not on a GOP ticket.

Hogan appeared on CBS News’s Face the Nation Sunday to discuss the presidential candidates within the Republican Party. Currently, Hogan is the Honorary Chairman of the No Labels party, so the conversation quickly turned to who would be on this third party’s ticket should former President Donald Trump win the Republican nomination again.

WHY A TELEVISED TRUMP RICO TRIAL COULD STILL BE WISHFUL THINKING

“Let’s be real. If Trump is going to end up — looks like the nominee January or February of next year, are you, Larry Hogan, open to being atop a No Labels ticket as a Republican-type candidate with No Labels?” anchor Bob Costa asked.

“It’s not something I’m pursuing,” Hogan said at first. “I’m hoping we don’t get to that point. I have not closed door to that. If I believe we can win the race — we have a strong ticket that those two major candidates — we might have to try to pull off something that’s never been done, which is sort of what I did in Maryland.”

Hogan was referring to his record of being the first Republican governor in Maryland to be reelected for a second term, winning the most votes of any governor in Maryland’s history.

“Again, I’m still hopeful that — I’m not sure sitting here today that Donald Trump and Joe Biden are the two nominees or whether this lifts off the ground,” Hogan said. “If that’s the case, I do believe that this group has a chance to get access to the ballot in all 50 states, and if they put together, you know, a really great ticket and ran a perfect campaign, that they would actually have a shot to be not just a spoiler, but to be in it to win it.”

Trump is facing off against former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, former governor of New Jersey Chris Christie, former Texas representative Will Hurd, former Vice President Mike Pence, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, political commentator Larry Elder, businessman Perry Johnson, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy in the race to win the GOP presidential nomination.
