The New York City Police Department’s 121st Precinct arrested a person during a traffic stop who they say was impersonating a city official.
The NYPD announced it had arrested “an individual who was impersonating a city investigator & illegally possessed a police scanner and switchblade,” according to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “That same individual was also out on an out-of-state probation.”

The person was allegedly going by “Investigator Lacrete,” per a vest found on the individual. The vest was subsequently photographed and posted to X.
If the person is charged with criminal impersonation, it would be considered a misdemeanor charge. As the police confirmed that the person was out on probation, the charges are likely to include probationary violations like crossing state lines.
