Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) called for oversight in response to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) latest health scare.

On Wednesday, McConnell froze up for about 30 seconds while taking questions from reporters in the second such incident to happen this summer. Greene seized on the situation soon after, using the example and mentioning other politicians who suffer from mental ailments in a call to address the situation of aging lawmakers.

“Severe aging health issues and/or mental health incompetence in our nation’s leaders MUST be addressed,” Greene wrote. “Biden, McConnell, Feinstein, and Fetterman are examples of people who are not fit for office and it’s time to be serious about it.”

She then criticized the friends and family of McConnell and other politicians, saying they should be “ashamed” for “enabling and allowing” these people to remain in office.

“We are talking about our country’s national security and it’s all at stake! 25th amendment and other measures need to be on the table,” she added.

Greene’s statement echoed that of Rep. Dean Philips (D-MN), who also criticized the friends and family of McConnell and other aging politicians.

“For goodness sake, the family, friends, and staff of Senators Feinstein and McConnell are doing them and our country a tremendous disservice,” Philips said in a social media post. “It’s time for term limits for Congress and the Supreme Court, and some basic human decency.”
