
Mark Thompson named as CNN’s new chairman and CEO, filling Chris Licht’s role

CNN has officially found its new CEO and chairman in the form of Mark Thompson, a former chief executive of The New York Times.
Thompson will take on his new role with the news network starting Oct. 9, according to a statement from Warner Bros. Discovery, CNN’s parent company.

“There isn’t a more experienced, respected or capable executive in the news business today than Mark, and we are thrilled to have him join our team and lead CNN Worldwide into the future,” said David Zaslav, the CEO of WBD.
