Singer Elton John recovering after brief hospital stay

Elton John is recovering after a brief hospital stay over the weekend.

John, 76, fell in his home in Nice, France, and was taken to the Princess Grace hospital center. He was discharged on Monday morning.

“We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in the south of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure,” a statement from a representative for John read. “Following check ups, he was immediately discharged this morning and his now back at home and in good health.”

A source said that the singer experienced “a small domestic accident” but only received minor injuries. John underwent both a brain scan and a lumbar scan, and “no fractures” were shown.

John was in France spending time with his husband, David Furnish, along with their two sons, after finishing up his world tour. The singer has stated he has retired in order to spend time with his family.

“Touring is exhausting for me now, and it takes me away from my family and my children,” John said.

Despite already announcing his retirement, the singer has left the door open to perform “the odd show” here and there.
