The conservatorship that runs Britney Spears’ affairs has sued a man who runs a Spears-themed blog for defamation. The lawsuit filed Wednesday, June 26, 2019, in Los Angeles Superior Court alleges that Anthony Elia, who writes the blog Absolute Britney, has spread falsehoods about the conservatorship. The suit says the blog falsely claimed that the conservatorship, which is run by Spears’ father Jamie, was manipulating her Instagram account to make her appear more troubled and in need of help than she actually is. Britney Spears has turned off her Instagram comments following criticism over her new puppy that suggests, as a result, “animals will pay with their lives.”

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals took to social media to slam Spears for not being a “force for good,” accusing the famous singer of purchasing a dog instead of adopting.

“With one cutesy post, @BritneySpears ignored countless deserving dogs in shelters who so desperately need love, a comfy bed to curl up on, & a chance at a real life,” PETA posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “She could have been a force for good and adopted, but instead she chose to be toxic.”

On Wednesday, Spears shared a video of her new puppy, saying: “Introducing Snow … the new edition to the family … it’s her world and we just live in it!!!”

Spears did not state whether she purchased or adopted her new furry friend.

Spears also posted a video of her dancing to Indila’s “S.O.S.,” which includes lyrics that say: “This is a S.O.S. I’m touched. I’m on the ground! Do you hear my distress? Is there someone? I feel that I’m losing myself.”
