Fire watch: Here are all the active fires happening in Maui

Wildfires in Hawaii are severely affecting the island of Maui, with at least one town being very damaged by the flames.
The fires, which started on Tuesday, have greatly affected Lahaina, where dozens of homes have been destroyed. Eyewitnesses said residents were forced to jump into the waters of the local harbor to avoid the flames, according to a report.

On Wednesday morning, Jim Ireland, the director of Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, stated at least eight patients have been transferred to Oahu, an island in Honolulu County. At least three of the patients are in critical condition, though not all of the patients are burn victims.

Kula, a district in Maui, is also dealing with wildfires and the repercussions caused by them. Mayor Richard Bissen stated at least two homes were damaged and that over 1,000 acres of land were burned.

At least 80 people have been evacuated from the area, according to officials.

Multiple shelters set up in Maui are approaching maximum capacity, though they are still accepting new people as needed.
