Chris Christie claims D.C. jury ‘could be fair’ to Donald Trump

Presidential hopeful Chris Christie said that he believes a Washington, D.C. jury will give former President Donald Trump a fair trial.
Christie appeared on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday to share his insight as a former United States Attorney in New Jersey. Christie said that he believes “jurors can be fair.”

“I believe in the American people,” said Christie. “And I believe in the fact that jurors will listen fairly and comparably.”
Bash noted that in Washington, D.C., Biden won over 90% of the vote in the 2020 election. However, Christie stood firm in his belief, saying he observed “jurors put aside any of their partisanship or politics and listened to the evidence” to return “fair and just verdicts.” The then-U.S. attorney recovered 130 political corruption verdicts, none of which were overturned on appeal in the seven years Christie worked in the office.
“And for people who say [jurors] won’t, Dana, those are people who believe only in themselves, like Donald Trump, and not the American people,” Christie went on to say.
Trump is facing various indictments, from his alleged mishandling of classified documents to allegedly attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election. He pleaded not guilty to his most recent charges Thursday.

Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, political commentator Larry Elder, and businessmen Vivek Ramaswamy and Perry Johnson in the race to win the GOP presidential nomination.
