Donald Trump indicted: Nikki Haley says ‘I’m tired of commenting on every Trump drama’

Republican presidential candidate and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley responded to the third indictment of former President Donald Trump, saying she’s “tired of commenting” on her political rival.
Speaking on the Good Morning New Hampshire with Jack Heath radio show on Thursday, Haley said she didn’t want to release a public statement on Trump’s latest indictment immediately after the fact.

“Unlike the other candidates, I didn’t rush out with a statement yesterday on Trump’s indictment for one simple reason — like most Americans, I’m tired of commenting on every Trump drama,” said Haley. “I’ve lost track of whether this indictment is the third or fourth or the fifth.”
Rather than focus on Trump’s legal battles, Haley believes people should be more concerned about national security and the economy.
“We should be focusing on how to stop China. We should be focusing on how to close the border. We need to be reversing Bidenomics,” she said. “Putting a 77-year-old former president in prison doesn’t do any of that. We’ve got to move on already.”
Her comments differ from other Republican candidates’ stances on the issue. Former Vice President Mike Pence and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy both took a more direct approach, with the former condemning Trump’s role on Jan. 6 and the latter condemning the legal cases against Trump.

Two days before Haley responded to the charges, special counsel Jack Smith indicted Trump for his alleged involvement in overturning the 2020 election. In this particular case, the former president was charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
Trump pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in a Washington, D.C., federal court on Thursday afternoon.
