Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) is demanding the Biden administration respond to her repeated requests for answers about why her Social Security number was leaked.
“More than six months later, Democrats in Washington have still not addressed how they will rectify the situation where they leaked my family’s personal information, including our Social Security numbers. Attorney General [Merrick] Garland has not responded to our request for an investigation into this unlawful action,” Noem said.

The South Dakota governor said Garland has not responded to her request for an investigation concerning the leak of her private information, which she said violates the Privacy Act of 1974.
“D.C. bureaucrats callously mishandled sensitive information, all while accusing others of the same misstep,” she said.
The leak came when the Government Publishing Office published the House select commission on the Jan. 6 investigation’s final report. Inside the report were White House visitor logs that showed Social Security numbers unredacted. The leak also included Noem’s husband’s, her three children’s, her daughter’s, and her daughter’s husband’s Social Security numbers.
Noem said Monday that she and her family “have experienced hardships” involving “nefarious actors” who have been using their “personal information illegally.”

The governor was not the only public official’s sensitive information leaked. Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX), Gov. Henry McMaster (R-SC), former Trump administration Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, and former Trump administration Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar’s Social Security numbers were also leaked.
She is continuing to demand answers from the Justice Department, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, and the House Ethics Committee.
