Colorado teenager charged with attempted murder of at least seven police officers

A Colorado teenager was arrested Saturday and charged with the attempted murder of at least seven police officers.
The incident related to the arrest took place on Nov. 30 at about 9:45 p.m. when police followed a stolen Kia sedan into the parking lot of a shopping center, according to a report.

At least two people were in the car when someone inside opened fire on the police officers who were in an unmarked car.
Officers returned fire, and the other car attempted to flee the scene but was confronted by more responding officers, the report noted.
The people in the car continued shooting at the police, and four police vehicles were hit by gunfire before those inside were able to drive away.
Eventually, authorities located the abandoned sedan and set up a perimeter.
A juvenile suspect was located in the area and taken into custody on active warrants.
Following days of investigation, the 16-year-old was charged with seven charges of attempted murder of a peace officer and one charge of aggravated motor vehicle theft.
“We are relieved that we have this one suspect in custody, but there is at least one other out there,” the Aurora Police Department said.

“We need the public’s help. There is still a $10,000 reward for any information that will lead to the capture and conviction of the remaining suspect or suspects who tried to murder our officers.”
