The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will begin issuing payments in Texas worth up to $1,691 for the month of August in eight days.
Recipients of the program are slated to receive their payments by the middle of August. Texas’s SNAP issues payments through the first ten business days of the month, with the issuance date depending on a person’s Eligibility Determination Group number.

Payments vary depending on recipients’ household size — single households receive $281, and eight-member households receive $1,691, according to Texas’s Health and Human Services Commission website.
The funds are loaded onto a Lone Star Card, Texas’s version of an EBT card. The payment occurs automatically, so those with a Lone Star Card need not take any further action.

SNAP benefits can only be spent on food and nonalcoholic drinks. SNAP is active across all states and Washington, D.C., with slight caveats between each.
