Shaka Hislop update: ESPN soccer analyst ‘OK’ after collapsing during broadcast

ESPN soccer analyst Shaka Hislop is doing “OK” after collapsing during a broadcast of a soccer match in Pasadena, California.
Hislop suddenly fell to the ground as he and ESPN host Dan Thomas were discussing the upcoming friendly, or noncompetitive match, between A.C. Milan and Real Madrid at the Rose Bowl. Thomas quickly went to help Hislop after he collapsed and called for medical attention while the ESPN broadcast went to a commercial break.

Thomas would later provide an update to viewers about the analyst’s condition at halftime, telling viewers Hislop was “OK” and joking that Shaka felt “a bit embarrassed by it” and had “apologized profusely.” He did not provide a reason for why Hislop suddenly fell.
“Obviously my mate Shaka, not here, but as it stands, it’s good news: He’s conscious, he’s talking, I think he’s a bit embarrassed by it all and he’s apologized profusely — not a man who likes to make a fuss of it. Obviously far too early to make any sort of diagnosis, the important thing is that Shaka is conscious,” Thomas said during halftime.
“We spoke to his family as well because you imagine seeing that happen live, there can’t be many things that can scare you amongst a family, but fortunately we spoke to his wife and things are looking OK,” he continued.

On Sunday, the temperature in Pasadena was a high of 91 degrees Fahrenheit, according to AccuWeather.
Real Madrid defeated A.C. Milan 3-2 in the friendly match in Southern California.
