Food stamps: Final direct payment worth average of $183 for Alabama residents to go out in two days

Alabama residents who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits can expect to receive their benefits in two days. The final round of payments for this month will go out on July 23.
SNAP benefits, or food stamps, are distributed in Alabama from the 4th through the 23rd of the month, and recipients can expect to get their benefits based on the last two digits of a beneficiary’s case number.

The average benefit payment per household member in Alabama is $183. Around 761,100 people, or roughly 15% of the state’s population, receive assistance from SNAP, according to 2022 data from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
The maximum annual income limit to be eligible for SNAP in Alabama depends on the size of a household. For a household of one, the maximum annual income is $18,954, and for a household of five, the maximum annual income is $45,682.

The SNAP program’s fiscal year runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30 and is usually adjusted each year. Recipients’ household income typically must be at or below 130% of the federal poverty line, which is the gross income limit.
The amount individuals will receive from SNAP depends on household size, income, and other criteria. SNAP benefit recipients will be able to use their benefits through a prepaid electronic benefit transfer card. The EBT card can be used at grocery stores similar to a debit card to purchase eligible food products.
