August payments issued through Texas‘s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, worth up to $1,691, will begin to be sent out in 13 days.

Low-income households in the Lone Star state which receive SNAP benefits will receive their payments by the middle of August. Texas has a fairly long window for issuing payments, with benefits being dolled out through the first 10 business days of every month.

The size of recipients’ families affects the amount received. A single-person household will get just $281, while an eight-member household will receive $1,691, according to Texas’s Health and Human Services Commission website.

The date of issuance depends on the last digit of a resident’s Eligibility Determination Group number. The payment will be loaded onto a Lone Star Card, which can then be used like a credit card.

Texas participants in the SNAP program ages 16-59 must follow work rules. Participants must be either working in a job, actively seeking one, or working in another approved work program. Recipients cannot quit their job without good reason.

SNAP benefits are forbidden from being spent on anything except food and nonalcoholic drinks. The program is active across all states and Washington, D.C., with benefits being loaded on cards similar to Texas’s Lone Star Card, usually EBT cards.
