Food stamps: Final Louisiana direct payment for July worth up to $1,691 goes out in four days

Louisiana will distribute its final payment for July worth up to $1,691 to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program beneficiaries in the state on Sunday.
Louisiana residents receive their monthly SNAP payments, commonly known as food stamps, from the 1st to the 23rd of every month, according to the state’s Department of Children and Family Services.

Approximately 822,600 Louisiana residents, or 18% of the state population, benefited from food stamps in fiscal 2022, according to data published by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. The average payment per household member for each month is $192.
A household of eight can receive a maximum payment of $1,691. SNAP adds up to $211 for each additional member.
The monthly amount for active SNAP recipients should be available for use through an electronic benefits transfer card, which can be swiped at checkout in grocery stores, similar to a debit card.

Food stamps sent out each month depend on household income and size, along with several other factors. More resources for SNAP and other services can be found through Louisiana’s Department of Children and Family Services.
The current payment schedule and allotments took effect on Oct. 1 and will end on Sept. 30 for fiscal 2023.
