Former NBA star Charles Barkley has harshly criticized the Bug Light boycott campaign during a visit to the American Century Celebrity golf tournament.

Barkley made his comments over the weekend at Lake Tahoe, where the golf tournament is being held. During an appearance he made onstage, Barkley said he was going to “buy some drinks for y’all,” adding that he would be specifically buying Bud Light, according to footage of his appearance.

“And I’m gonna tell y’all something,” said Barkley. “All you rednecks or a**holes who don’t want to drink Bud Light, f*** y’all.”

Most members of the audience in the room applauded Barkley’s remarks, though some boos were also heard. The former sports star added that he was not afraid of “getting canceled.”

“As I said last night, if you’re gay, God bless you. If you’re trans, God bless you. If you have a problem with them, f*** you,” said Barkley.

The former sports star’s comments come after Bud Light, along with its parent company Anheuser-Busch, received heavy backlash over a partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney earlier this year. In the wake of the partnership, Bud Light sales plummeted, and the beer lost its title as the most purchased beer brand in the United States.

Bud Light has attempted several times to make a comeback with its customers, though said attempts have so far fallen flat. The latest attempt is the beer brand announcing a music tour called the “Bud Light Backyard Tour,” which will be held in August and will visit several cities, including Nashville, Tennessee; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; St. Louis, Missouri; and Charlottesville, Virginia.

Amid Bud Light’s struggling sales, retailer Costco appears to have halted plans to restock the beer. The beer was recently given a “death star” — an asterisk placed next to the price of a product indicating Costco will not restock it once it has sold out.
