“One bus from Texas arrived around 12:40 PM PT today at Union Station. The City has continued to work with City Departments, the County, and a coalition of nonprofit organizations, in addition to our faith partners, to execute a plan set in place earlier this year. As we have before, when we became aware of the bus yesterday, we activated our plan,” Zach Seidl, spokesman for Bass, said in a statement.

The bus was carrying 35 immigrants from Brownsville, Texas, as part of the third bus sent by Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX), according to the Los Angeles Times.

Abbott has sent buses of immigrants from the southern border towns to other large cities, such as New York City, Washington, D.C., and Chicago.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has also transported immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, in 2022 and to Sacramento, California, in June 2023. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has called for the Justice Department to investigate DeSantis’s immigrant transport program, which the Florida governor has defended as lawful.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Abbott’s office for confirmation that the bus was sent as part of his immigrant transport program.
