The Washington Examiner’s Kaylee McGhee White says Democrats now see former President Donald Trump as more of an “asset” than a roadblock.

“Democrats have realized that Trump is actually an asset of theirs and that if they can rally American voters against Donald Trump, they have a better chance of sort of wiping the slate clean on the mistakes that they’ve made,” White said Friday on Fox Business.

White went on to explain just how the Left has used Trump to its advantage, citing the 2022 midterm election cycle as an example.

During the primary season, the former president had a roughly 92% success record with his endorsements and occasionally crowed about it on the campaign trail. But in the general election, his results weren’t quite as high, which contributed to why the expected “red wave” didn’t come to fruition.

“I’m sure that’s exactly what they’re going to do again moving into 2024,” White told host Cheryl Casone.

Following months of dropping hints, Trump debuted his 2024 presidential campaign at Mar-a-Lago on Nov. 15, with the hope of making “America great and glorious again.”

White pointed out that the former president, who has had a rough couple of weeks following his announcement, may not even secure the GOP nomination. But Democrats would likely welcome that, she said.

“That’s certainly what he hopes,” White said, adding that “if he is the primary candidate, it is hard to think of an easier candidate for a Democrat to beat at this point.”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich also recently warned Republicans not to underestimate President Joe Biden and his administration.

“Conservative’s hostility to the Biden administration … tends to blind us to how effective Biden has been on his terms,” Gingrich recently wrote.

When asked if she agreed with the advice, White said it’s not fair to give Biden the credit.

The fact is any Democratic president in office who wants to expand the administrative state or increase spending is going to have a pretty easy time doing so,” she said.

“The bureaucracy loves nothing more than to grow and spend more money, and it is doing its absolute best to help Biden go along with that,” White said.

Looking back at Trump’s administration, she said Republicans have had the “more difficult task” of trying to rein in that spending by cutting costs and limiting regulations.

“Biden has sort of a simple task ahead of him, really, which is to just give [the bureaucracy] more free rein,” White said.

“Really, that’s all they want here,” she said.
