Here are some of the best places to view fireworks on the Fourth of July:
The National Mall
The obvious choice for many, the National Mall will also likely be the most crowded location for fireworks. Viewers will get a front-row view of the city’s main fireworks display, hosted by the National Park Service.
The display is slated to begin at 9:09 p.m. Fireworks will be fired from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
Onlookers hoping to get a view from up front should get there early, and be prepared to pass through security checkpoints, where bags will be searched. Alcoholic and glass beverages are prohibited.
Washington National Cathedral
For those unwilling to deal with the hassle or crowds of the National Mall, the Washington National Cathedral is a good place to view the fireworks display. The grassy slopes around the cathedral offer one of the highest natural vantage points in the city. Though the area might be somewhat crowded with onlookers with the same idea, the area will be much less sparsely populated than the National Mall, with almost as good a view.
Watergate South
Although space is limited, the rooftop view of the famous hotel offers one of the best indoor viewing platforms of the fireworks display. With proper planning, onlookers can watch from the comfort of the indoors.
The Kennedy Center Terrace
Though sharing the problem with Watergate of having more limited space than most, the Kennedy Center terrace offers one of the best views of Washington D.C. Likewise, onlookers can get one of the best views of the fireworks, with the added bonus of a perfect panorama of the entire city.

The United States Marine Corps War Memorial
Though one of the furthest spots on the list from the fireworks display, being located across the Potomac, the Marine Corps Memorial nevertheless offers a nice panoramic view of Washington, D.C. The view is perfect for seeing the fireworks, with a beautiful monument to boost.
