Biden denounces Nazis and Holocaust denial day after Kanye West interview

President Joe Biden took to Twitter to denounce antisemitism and Holocaust denial Friday, the day after rapper Kanye West defended Adolf Hitler and Nazis in an interview.
Biden’s comments come after West dined at Mar-a-Lago with former President Donald Trump and white nationalist Nick Fuentes. Trump has announced he is again seeking the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
“The Holocaust happened,” Biden said. “Hitler was a demonic figure.”

“And instead of giving it a platform, our political leaders should be calling out and rejecting antisemitism wherever it hides,” he continued. “Silence is complicity.”
In addition to his association with Trump, West had become a popular figure among conservatives before he began espousing antisemitic views.
Trump denied in a post on his social media platform that he knew Fuentes or that West said anything antisemitic during their meeting.
West gave a bizarre interview during which he trafficked in stereotypes about Jews and complained about “dissing Nazis,” claiming the genocidal regime did some good things. He was speaking on Alex Jones’s show.
Biden has said the 2017 white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia was a major reason he ran for president.
The White House has said that it will call out racism and antisemitism wherever it exists, arguing that Republicans do not always do the same.
Many Republican leaders did condemn Trump’s meeting with Fuentes.

Biden is considering a run for reelection, which could potentially lead to a rematch with Trump.
West has said he is also considering running for president in 2024.
