Adam Schiff tells The View that supporters donated to campaign after House censure

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) joined The View on Thursday to react to his Republican House colleagues voting to censure him on Wednesday over his past support of the theory that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
“I think people have responded,” said Schiff, who is running for Senate in California. “A lot have gone to adamschiff.com and helped my campaign, and I’m grateful to them.”

The Washington Examiner contacted Schiff’s campaign regarding the amount raised after the censure.
He was censured by a vote of 213-209 in the House of Representatives. The measure had been spearheaded by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), who filed a privileged motion on Tuesday to expedite a vote. In order to secure enough votes, the Republican was forced to remove bill language that levied a $16 million fine against Schiff.

According to the Democratic politician, “They go after people they think are standing up to them, and more importantly, that are standing up to their master, Donald Trump.”
“They don’t bother with people they don’t think are a threat to their effort to essentially move the country in this authoritarian direction,” he added.

Schiff further told the hosts, “I think they hope that they can silence others, and that’s where the danger in this kind of device lies.”
The congressman also called Republicans who voted to censure him “puppets of Donald Trump,” noting that “this is what the House has degenerated into.”
