During a discussion on new allegations that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito failed to disclose a luxury vacation from a billionaire who had business come before the court, The View hosts Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar accused former President Donald Trump of packing the court.

“Impeachment may be the answer to this,” Behar said of the report that Alito did not disclose the fishing vacation from hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer, who has appeared before the court at least 10 times for cases pertaining to his various hedge funds. “Because if they stack the court and put more judges, there could be just more corruption.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin told her co-hosts on Thursday that “it’s only been Democrats talking about stacking the court, though.”

Asked to clarify, she said, “Only Democrats talk about stacking the court, which I think is not democratic.”

Behar and Hostin challenged her on the claim, explaining that no rule or law dictates the court must have nine justices.

“If you say we’re going to add three left-leaning judges, then you’re bypassing the process of, like, you nominate somebody when there’s a seat up,” Griffin said.

“That’s what Donald Trump did,” Hostin and Behar claimed.

“They were available,” Griffin said of the seats filled by Trump-appointed Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett.

“He didn’t add a seat. He filled a seat,” Sara Haines added.

“They also prevented President Obama from choosing his pick,” Hostin pivoted, referencing former President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court pick Merrick Garland never being voted on by the Senate.

Behar called it “the most corrupt thing that has ever happened.”
