House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) accused the FBI and the National Archives of attempting to “play defense for the Bidens.”

Comer said the federal agencies are refusing to confirm whether President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, emailed classified documents to a foreign national.

“With respect to mishandling classified documents,” Comer told Fox News host Mark Levin. “Look at what Joe Biden did. His documents are strewn in at least four different locations, and we suspect that one to two documents that were in his possession are on the president’s son’s laptop in an email to a foreign national, but we can’t get the FBI or the National Archives to confirm that to us.

“That’s another missing piece to our investigation,” he continued. “We need information from these deep state bureaucracies, and so far, all they’ve done is play defense for the Bidens.”

Comer said the FBI’s lack of cooperation throughout the House Oversight Committee’s investigations has created mounting distrust of the agency.

“The FBI has lost the confidence of the American people,” Comer said. “And it’s not just going to have an impact on what we’re doing with respect to this Biden family investigation. I think that FBI agents are going to have a problem when they present to juries all over America when they say things like, well, ‘this particular witness lied to the FBI.’ I don’t think anybody’s going to believe the FBI right now.”

“At least 50% of America thinks the FBI is somewhat corrupt. They think they are compromised,” Comer said.

The Oversight Committee’s chairman pointed to FBI Director Christopher Wray’s initial denial that the FD-1023, which alleges a “criminal bribery scheme” involving Biden and a “foreign national,” existed prior to the FBI producing it in a redacted form.

“What are they hiding? I have no confidence in the FBI. We need to reform the FBI from top to bottom,” Comer said. “At the very least, we need to significantly cut their funding.”
