Migrants who were transported from Florida to Sacramento, California have gone on the record to share their reactions to the trip.

In total, 36 migrants arrived in the Golden State between June 2 and 5 via several air flights that stopped in Texas and New Mexico before reaching their final destination. They arrived with documents provided by the Floridian government, obtained by the Sacramento Bee.

The documents read in English and Spanish, stating each migrant consented to the travel without any promise “regarding employment, benefits, health care, immigration status, immigration assistance, housing, clothing, food, services, or any consideration of any sort.”

Additionally, the form included a promise that the migrants would not sue the state of Florida in exchange for the free transportation while also acknowledging the risks of air travel. A spokesperson from Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office clarified to the outlet that written or verbal consent was accepted.

Some of the migrants claim that despite the document they arrived with, some promises were made to them prior to boarding their flight.

“We are here because they offered us a job,” an anonymous Venezuelan migrant told CNN. “We were deceived by the people who provided the flight service. They offered us jobs and housing.”

“All we received was abandonment,” another anonymous migrant reported to the Los Angeles Times.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta has since filed public record requests to Florida seeking all communications between the governor’s office, the Florida Department of Transportation, the Division of Emergency Management, Berry Aviation, and the third-party contractor Vertol Systems Company, Inc. This comes in an apparent attempt to determine “whether the law has been violated.”

Florida and Texas have sent more migrants this year to other Democratic-run cities like New York City, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Martha’s Vineyard.
