Former President Donald Trump is vowing to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate President Joe Biden‘s family if he is elected president in 2024.

Trump claimed that the “seal” has been broken and accused Biden of being “the most corrupt president in the history of the USA” in a post on Truth Social on Monday.

“NOW THAT THE “SEAL” IS BROKEN, IN ADDITION TO CLOSING THE BORDER & REMOVING ALL OF THE “CRIMINAL” ELEMENTS THAT HAVE ILLEGALLY INVADED OUR COUNTRY, MAKING AMERICA ENERGY INDEPENDENT, & EVEN DOMINANT AGAIN, & IMMEDIATELY ENDING THE WAR BETWEEN RUSSIA & UKRAINE, I WILL APPOINT A REAL SPECIAL “PROSECUTOR” TO GO AFTER THE MOST CORRUPT PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE USA, JOE BIDEN, THE ENTIRE BIDEN CRIME FAMILY, & ALL OTHERS INVOLVED WITH THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR ELECTIONS, BORDERS, & COUNTRY ITSELF!” Trump wrote.

Trump was indicted last week by a grand jury over his alleged mishandling of classified documents. Special counsel Jack Smith, who has helmed the investigation, was appointed by Merrick Garland in November 2022. Garland specifically cited Trump’s announcement as a presidential candidate for 2024 and Biden’s intention to run for reelection in 2024 as a reason for the special counsel.

“Based on recent developments, including the former president’s announcement that he is a candidate for president in the next election, and the sitting president’s stated intention to be a candidate as well, I have concluded that it is in the public interest to appoint a special counsel,” Garland said at the time.

Biden denied discussing any investigations surrounding Trump with the Justice Department when asked as reports emerged that Trump would be indicted.

“I have never once, not one single time, suggested to the Justice Department what they should do or not do relative to bringing a charge or not bringing a charge,” Biden said on Thursday. “I’m honest.”

Trump later posted to Truth Social to allege that Biden is lying when he says he has not discussed Trump’s indictment with the Justice Department, claiming that Biden also previously said he did not speak with his son Hunter Biden’s business partners. Recently released emails have cast doubt on what Joe Biden knew about Hunter’s business dealings and partners, with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) telling the Washington Examiner that the emails show that the president “lied” about his knowledge of his son’s business dealings.

“Joe Biden just stated he never spoke to Attorney General Garland about Indicting his POLITICAL OPPONENT, who just happens to be leading him, by a lot, in the polls. Used to say the same thing about Hunter’s business partners, until that was revealed to be a lie! Met with them many, many times. CROOKED JOE & HIS THUGS ARE DESTROYING AMERICA!” Trump said.

Biden is currently under investigation by Special Counsel Robert Hur, who was appointed by Garland in January, for his alleged mishandling of classified documents. The Biden family, including his son Hunter and brother James, are under scrutiny from House Republicans for business dealings from before Biden was president, including during his time as vice president.

A 1023 form presented to members of the House Oversight Committee on Thursday allegedly shows that an executive at Ukrainian energy giant Burisma paid “multiple” members of the Biden family $5 million each. The payments were allegedly routed through multiple bank accounts to get to Joe Biden, per Republicans who viewed the document. Hours after the GOP began to detail what they had seen in the document, Trump announced he had been indicted by the federal grand jury.
