President Joe Biden complained of a toothache on Sunday and had a root canal performed the same day, according to the White House.
A letter from the president’s physician said Biden identified some dental pain in one of his lower teeth and had dental work performed inside the White House. The initial procedure was a success, and Biden is finishing the root canal this morning.

“He is experiencing further discomfort this morning, which was anticipated,” reads the letter from Dr. Kevin O’Connor. “The endodontal specialty team from Walter Reed [National Military Medical Center] will complete the president’s root canal today, at the White House.”
Biden’s official public schedule for Monday did not initially include the root canal but was updated and the letter was released mid-morning.
