Conor McGregor’s planned bit to punch Heat mascot results in injury

Conor McGregor of UFC fame incidentally injured a man in the Miami Heat mascot suit in a planned bit Friday.

McGregor appeared on the Kaseya Center court to promote a pain relief spray which he pretended to demonstrate on the mascot Brunie, replet with a boxing robe and gloves, after punching him with a left hook. The man inside the suit fell over as planned and took another punch from McGregor to the head. Other employees dragged the mascot out by the feet as the fourth game between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets.

The Miami Heat confirmed Saturday that as a result, the anonymous employee was taken to a nearby emergency room. Treatment included pain medication, and then the employee was discharged and renewed to good condition.

The former UFC fighter did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.

Miami would go on to to lose 108-95 to Denver, which resulted in a 3-1 lead for Denver in the best-of-seven series. Their next game is Monday.

McGregor hasn’t fought since July 2021 when he injured his leg.
