Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich clarified his stance this weekend regarding the electoral gains made by Democrats during the 2020 general elections.

Gingrich claimed a lack of “strict” elections laws in the U.S. could allow Democrats to “steal” the 2024 elections. He made the comments when asked about the GOP’s efforts to secure a “free and fair election” during an appearance on FOX News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.

ONE QUESTION FOR TRUMP COULD DETERMINE THE RACE FOR THE 2024 GOP NOMINATION

Gingrich, who would go on to become the U.S. ambassador to the Vatican under former President Donald Trump, stated during his interview with Bartiromo that it was “probably almost impossible” to secure a presidential victory as the laws stand in the U.S.

“I think the only Republican strategy in the long run is to pick issues and win by margins so big that they can’t steal it,” the former House leader added.
