House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is holding a press conference ahead of the House vote on the debt ceiling bill.
Jeffries pledged on Tuesday to get the votes necessary to prevent the United States from defaulting. However, a growing number of progressives on the Democrat side have pledged to vote no on the deal, along with over two dozen Republicans who have also publicly expressed their opposition to the deal.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) became the first House Democrat to say she would vote against the bill and told the Washington Examiner that she expects her fellow progressives to vote against it as well.
