
Elon Musk visits China for first time in three years

Tesla CEO Elon Musk landed in Beijing on Tuesday in what is his first trip to China in three years.
Musk is expected to meet with Chinese officials and visit Tesla’s Shanghai plant, according to a report.

“China has always welcomed business people from various countries, including Mr. Musk, to visit China to better understand China and promote mutually beneficial cooperation,” Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Mao Ning reportedly said on Tuesday in Beijing. “We are happy to see foreign enterprises investing in new business in China, taking root in the Chinese market, and sharing development opportunities.”
Musk may also meet with Premier Li Qiang regarding automated-driving technology that Tesla desires to introduce in China.

More than half of Tesla’s global production in 2022 came from the automaker’s Shanghai plant. The production facility is said to be able now to produce as many as 1.1 million cars per year.
