DeSantis files paperwork to run for president in 2024

It’s official. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is in.
DeSantis filed his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission, fulfilling rumors that he would do so this week. Later in the day, the Florida governor is expected to announce his 2024 plans publicly in a Twitter Spaces event with CEO Elon Musk.

The Florida governor has been the assumed top rival to former President Donald Trump despite several polls showing the former president cruising to the GOP nomination.
For weeks, DeSantis has swung through key early states, such as New Hampshire and Iowa, seeking to build up support among primary voters. Following his Twitter event Wednesday, the governor is rumored to start barnstorming states.
