Trump ‘not at all’ worried about impeachment despite Democrats retaking Congress

.

President Donald Trump told the Washington Examiner that he isn’t worried about being impeached, even after Democrats picked up sizable majorities in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate in the 2026 midterm elections.

“Not even a little bit. I think it would destroy — I think it would destroy the Democrat Party if they did that,” he said to the Washington Examiner when asked if he was at all concerned about impeachment proceedings. “Impeachment for no reason. What, for having a successful country? Our country is more successful now than at any time in its history.”

Trump said early Wednesday morning, during an interview with Fox News, that he had spoken to several Democrats after it became clear that Democrats were flipping Congress Tuesday night.

The president had not been scheduled to appear in public on Wednesday, but he took reporters on a surprise tour of the White House ballroom construction site and fielded dozens of questions.

He declined to tell the Washington Examiner which Democrats he spoke with overnight, but said that none of them brought up impeachment on the calls.
