Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) posted a photo of himself grilling on social media, except it’s Republicans who seem to be getting cooked.
“54 seats and counting,” Schumer wrote on X. “And I learned how to grill … these burgers and dogs are fully cooked.”
The post shows the New York senator smiling as he cooked up hamburgers and hot dogs, overlaid with photos of several Republicans who lost their races in the midterm elections, as well as President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
Photos showed Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME), Jon Husted (R-OH), and Darline Graham (R-SC), who lost their incumbent seats in their respective Senate races. Republican Senate nominees Reps. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) and Mike Collins (R-GA), Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, Mike Rogers in Michigan, and Michael Whatley in North Carolina, who all lost their Senate seat bids, were also featured in Schumer’s post.
Schumer’s post hints at Democrats’ attitude following the massive midterm election night wins.
After flipping multiple competitive seats, including some within deep red states, Democrats have secured their majority in both the House and Senate despite several races not being called.
WHAT SENATE RACES ARE LEFT TO BE DECIDED
In Texas, Democratic Gov.-elect Gina Hinojosa won over incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott, marking the first time in more than 30 years that a Democrat has won the gubernatorial seat. She will also be the state’s first Latina governor.
Ohio’s gubernatorial seat also flipped blue, as Gov.-elect Amy Acton secured her spot over Republican Vivek Ramaswamy.
