President Donald Trump is headed to North Carolina on Wednesday to rally for Republican Senate nominee Michael Whatley.

Trump is set to take the stage at 7 p.m., marking his first appearance as a candidate since the Republican National Committee’s first-of-its-kind midterm convention.
Whatley has an uphill climb to November, when he will face former Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper, as the Cook Political Report rates the Tarheel State’s Senate seat as “leans Democrat.” Whatley’s campaign and the GOP’s campaign arm have repeatedly attacked Cooper for his role in releasing violent felons from prison.
