Professional golfer Tiger Woods had his driver’s license suspended as part of a last-minute plea deal with prosecutors over five months after he crashed his vehicle in Florida while driving under the influence.
At a court hearing on Wednesday, Woods changed his plea to no contest. As a result, his charges were reduced to reckless driving and refusal to submit to a lawful urinalysis test.
Woods has to pay a $1,000 fine for the first charge and a $500 fine for the second charge, while his driver’s license is revoked for the next five years.
“If you drive for any reason at all, you will be going back to jail,” the judge told the athlete.
Woods appeared in court with his attorney, Douglas Duncan, and his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump. The two have been dating since late 2024.
The defendant previously pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. He was issued a citation for reckless driving following the DUI rollover crash in late March.
At the time of the accident, Woods was speeding on a residential road with a 30-mile-per-hour speed limit when he lost control of his car. The vehicle struck a truck, causing $5,000 in damage, and subsequently rolled over onto its side. Woods, who was uninjured, safely crawled out of the vehicle and called President Donald Trump while speaking with an officer.
The 50-year-old man was found to have been taking pain medication, which authorities concluded impaired his senses. The two loose pills on his person were identified as hydrocodone, an opioid used to treat pain. The breathalyzer test showed no signs of alcohol, but he refused to take a urine test.

Woods was also looking at his phone and changing the radio station in his car moments before the crash.
The golf star took a break from the public spotlight to focus on getting treatment. He was treated at a rehabilitation center in Switzerland for three months before returning to Florida.
