Milo Yiannopoulos, a far-right political commentator who rose to fame in the 2010s, has been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is expected to face immediate deportation, the Washington Examiner has learned.
Federal immigration authorities arrested Yiannopoulos at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, Louisiana, on Thursday, according to a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson.
Yiannopoulous is a citizen of the United Kingdom and entered the United States on May 14, 2019, on a visa. He failed to depart the U.S. when his visa expired, making him an illegal immigrant.
Yiannopoulous was supposed to appear in court for an immigration hearing, but did not show up. An immigration judge issued a final order of removal during a court hearing on July 22.
The 41-year-old Brit rose to fame as an internet provocateur who worked as an editor at right-leaning news outlet Breitbart. He was a prominent figure in the alt-right movement during the second term of the Obama administration.

The DHS spokesperson said illegal immigrants who do not wish to be arrested, detained, and deported by the federal government should self-deport.
“Being in detention is a choice. We encourage all illegal aliens to take control of their departure with the CBP Home App,” the DHS spokesperson said. “The United States is offering illegal aliens $3,000 and a free flight to self-deport now. We encourage every person here illegally to take advantage of this offer and reserve the chance to come back to the U.S. the right legal way to live the American dream. If not, you will be arrested and deported without a chance to return.”
