Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is not planning to hit the campaign trail for one-time primary opponent James Talarico as he campaigns against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for the U.S. Senate.
“I will be campaigning downballot,” Crockett said on CNN’s Laura Coates Live when asked if she would appear with the Democratic state senator.
During her CNN interview, Crockett emphasized the need for Democrats to motivate voters to show up across Texas on Election Day. Crockett said she wanted to focus on “amplifying” candidates who “maybe are getting overshadowed.”
The congresswoman also said she didn’t “think that there is excitement” from black voters in Texas this cycle.
Crockett lost to Talarico by 6 points in the Democratic Senate primary earlier this year. Since losing, Crockett has not been shy about voicing her belief that the primary between her and Talarico was a “racist race.”

A new poll Thursday from the nonpartisan Texas Public Opinion Research had Talarico with a 6-point lead. While the poll showed Paxton leading among white voters and voters over 55, it had Talarico leading with black voters, Latino voters, younger voters, college-educated voters, and women.
All of this comes as Democrats are fighting to win a Senate seat in the Lone Star State for the first time since 1988.
