Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is set to campaign alongside Democratic rivals of two of her Jewish peers in the House: Reps. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL).
Tlaib, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, will appear alongside fellow socialists Oliver Larkin, who is challenging Moskowitz, and Elijah Manley, who is running against Wasserman Schultz.
Tlaib is appearing alongside Larkin, Manley, and state Rep. Angie Nixon, who is running in the Democratic Senate primary, in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, according to a flyer posted on social media. The event, hosted by the left-wing Miami DSA, Gen Z for Change, the Florida Youth Justice Coalition, and Broward County DSA, is a get-out-the-vote rally to “Chomp the Oligarchy.”
Tlaib, the first Palestinian American woman in Congress, is vehemently anti-Israel and has made controversial remarks that critics see as antisemitic, including a 2019 interview in which she said thinking of the Holocaust gives her a “calming feeling.” She was censured in 2023 for statements she made about the war in Gaza after she did not immediately condemn the Oct. 7, 2023, attack by Hamas.
In a post to X, Tlaib wrote: “From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate. My work and advocacy is always centered in justice and dignity for all people no matter faith or ethnicity.”
At the time, Wasserman Schultz condemned the statement, saying that the phrase “means eradicating Israel and Jews. Period. Dressing it up in a new PR ploy won’t change that.”
The Michigan Democrat has been a frequent sight on the campaign trail this cycle, having supported socialist candidates across the map in Democratic primaries.
Moskowitz and Wasserman Schultz, both Jewish, are in competitive primaries this cycle after both Democrats saw some of the biggest shifts in their districts under the updated electoral map passed by Florida’s state legislature.
Moskowitz, who currently represents the 23rd District, is running in Florida’s 25th District this cycle, which stretches from Boca Raton to Miami. Wasserman Schultz is running in the redrawn Fort Lauderdale-area 20th District after her seat was blown into smithereens.

Florida’s 20th District is a majority-black district that leans heavily Democrat, with Wasserman Schultz sparking heavy debate over her decision to seek elected office in the district.
