Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha praised White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt for her performance behind the podium, arguing that Leavitt distinguished herself through preparation, confidence, and a willingness to aggressively defend President Donald Trump’s agenda.
“It’s probably one of the toughest jobs you can do in Washington, certainly one of the toughest jobs you can do in this country, as a white-collar worker, being a press secretary, especially one for a Republican president against a press who’s obviously biased against you,” Concha said Thursday on Fox and Friends First.
Leavitt, who at age 27 became the youngest White House press secretary in history when she took the job at the start of Trump’s second term, temporarily stepped away from the podium in May for maternity leave following the birth of her second child, Viviana. She is departing from the administration at the end of August to spend more time with her family.
“But, you know, throughout her years as White House press secretary here since the president began his second term, even when you go back to the campaign, the same sentiment is said about Karoline Leavitt, and that is that she is mature and talented beyond her years,” Concha said.
Concha praised Leavitt’s skill at the podium despite her youth, noting her ability to satisfy Trump while staying prepared for tough questions from the press.
“You watch her at that podium at the James S. Brady briefing room, and you would never think that that was the case. You would think that she’s been doing this job for many years, even … decades,” Concha said. “So, in the end, I think that what impressed me most was she came in so prepared. She treated the job like a Navy SEAL. She was not only ready for every question, she did what the president appreciated.”
Concha predicted that Leavitt’s career in politics is far from over.
“It’s easy to see her seeking office and winning, given her passion, her principles, and outstanding communication skills,” Concha said. “So this is only the beginning for Karoline Leavitt.”

Concha also floated a potential successor for Leavitt, pointing to lawyer and former Trump counselor Alina Habba.
“You know, I think maybe a dark horse, so to speak, could be Alina Habba, who has the same kind of demeanor as Karoline Leavitt,” he said.
