Republican candidates in 2026 could see $800 million in fundraising help from President Donald Trump’s super PAC in the crucial midterm election year, the president announced on Friday.
Trump touted his Make America Great Again Inc.’s $800 million war chest in an interview with Punchbowl News on Friday. The massive fundraising number could prove vital for Republicans in the midterm elections, in which Trump’s name will not be at the top of the ballot to boost the GOP side.
The president said he was “of course” going to spend his PAC’s $800 million, but did not limit its potential to just the elections when the outlet asked.
“I could spend it on pretty much anything I want. I’m going to spend it for — I’m going to help Republicans,” Trump said.
As with any midterm election season, voter turnout this year is expected to be lower than in presidential election cycles. But for Republicans in particular, there is not much that drives voters to the ballot box as much as Trump’s name.
As the GOP looks to hold its majorities in both the House and the Senate, Trump has been campaigning in key purple states, endorsing candidates across the GOP board, and leveraging his economic wins from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to bring voters to the polls.
“If I don’t run, will those people go out and vote? And that’s the one thing I can’t say. I’m going to ask them to,” Trump told the outlet, pointing to his stump speech in Nevada on Thursday.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) has sought to tie Trump’s name to the midterm races as much as possible ahead of November, as Johnson vies to protect Republicans’ slim six-seat majority in the lower chamber, which exists with three Democratic vacancies and one GOP vacancy. Johnson has made the point several times that Trump’s name is indeed “on the ballot,” because if the majority switched to Democratic hands, blue lawmakers would work to undo Trump’s agenda and take down administration officials, he argues.
“They will turn every committee of Congress into an investigative body, and they’ll go after the president’s family, the Cabinet, his donors, and friends — half of you in this room will be targeted,” Johnson said at a June Faith & Freedom Coalition event. “I run the protection program. I’ll take care of you, OK. We’re going to win, we’re going to win the midterm.”
Trump told the outlet Friday that he believes his party is “going to win” in the November elections, but warned, as he often has, about the historic trend that the party in control of the White House loses in midterm years. He also said Democrats are “shooting themselves in the foot” by nominating socialist candidates in the primary elections.

“We’ve had good presidents, and even good presidents, they tend to lose the midterms,” Trump said. “So I don’t know what that is. Other than that, I’d say we should win easily.”
He also hypothesized that voters “are very angry at Republicans” but said they are not angry with him, adding that he doesn’t know why.
