President Donald Trump is reaffirming his support for Rep. Andy Ogles before Thursday’s Tennessee Republican primaries, which will use the state’s new congressional maps.
“Congressman Andy Ogles is doing a fantastic job representing the incredible people of Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District!” Trump said on Truth Social on Thursday. “Andy is a Conservative Warrior who has strong support from his Community. In Congress, he is fighting tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A. and American Energy DOMINANCE, Safeguard our Elections, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Strengthen our Military/Veterans, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.”
Trump endorsed Ogles, a Freedom Caucus member, last year, but threw his political weight behind Ogles again amid a closer-than-expected primary against former Tennessee Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Hatcher.
“Andy Ogles [has] my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election,” he wrote. “Election Day for the Republican Primary is TODAY. GET OUT AND VOTE FOR ANDY – HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
Tennessee’s new 5th District now stretches to the northwest corner of the state and the borders of Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, and Mississippi along the Mississippi River to Memphis. It previously took a slice of Nashville and went into central Tennessee, and the redrawn map is intended to help Republicans more broadly in November’s midterm elections.

Ogles’s reelection campaign has also been undermined by a super PAC called the Invest in Tomorrow Coalition, which advocates renewable energy and has spent $2 million in advertising against him.
“Team Newsom is spending $2 million to support my primary opponent because I openly fought against green energy subsidies in Congress,” Ogles wrote on X this week. “They are interfering in a Republican primary because they know how hard I FIGHT their radical agenda. We cannot let them BUY a Tennessee seat in Congress. I’m endorsed by President Trump because I’m a fighter and will never back down.”
