War Secretary Pete Hegseth; Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins will testify before the Senate appropriations committee on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
PENTAGON DISPUTES CHARACTERIZATION IT DOWNPLAYED RECENT CASUALTIES IN IRAN WAR
The three Trump administration officials will each field questions on President Donald Trump’s June supplemental funding request for $87.6 billion. Of that funding in the White House budget request, $67 billion would cover the Pentagon’s Iran war costs.
Hegseth’s, Caine’s, and Rollins’s testimony comes as the United States and Iran amp up their strikes in the wake of the ceasefire’s collapse. The officials, particularly Hegseth and Caine, will likely field questions about the trajectory of the conflict and the three, possibly four, U.S. service members who died in the Middle East as a result of the war over the weekend.
